After reading hundreds, if not thousands of comments that this post has spawned, and after months of careful thought, I have come to a realization:

"If software engineering is in demand, why is it so hard to get a software engineering job?"

-Because it pays a relatively high salary

-Because there are a lot of people willing to FIGHT YOU for that salary
